At Northland, we’re committed to training the next
generation of servant-leaders for Great Commission living. We go about this by
working to train the head, the heart and the hands. The head is trained in the
classroom, the heart through our chapel ministry, and the hands through
Extension ministries. Extension provides a two-fold purpose. It gives our
students the opportunity to be a help and blessing to dozens of ministries
throughout our region, but it also will put them in a place to be mentored and
trained by pastors and leaders in these local churches.
—Paul Whitt, Vice President of Student Affairs
The
Extension Office at Northland coordinates the efforts of student-led
teams who minister across the region in local church and community
ministries. It is “the all-important bridge between the theological and
the practical.”
If you
are interested in knowing more about student life at Northland, you
need to know about extension. It plays a huge part in a students’
preparation for Great Commission living. While on extension, students
must work together, submitting to one another in love. They must
demonstrate servant-leadership as they minister to children, teens, and
adults. And they must be prepared with the knowledge of Scripture, which
is the only source for the guidance and hope they can offer. Students take
what they are learning in the classroom and put it into practice daily and weekly through the opportunities given to them through outlets such as
extension.
