Speech Communication

The primary purpose of the Speech Communication Department is to provide students with the philosophical foundation and skill-set necessary to speak effectively. The spoken word is a powerful tool, and we place great emphasis on the skillful use of both content and delivery so students glorify the character of our God not only by what they say but also by how they say it. The speech education program provides a solid foundation in each aspect of speech communication including communication theory, voice production, drama, literature performance, and public speaking. A strong, ministry-focused speech and drama program, coupled with instruction in educational philosophy and methodology, will equip the student to teach, direct, and coach in the speech program of Christian schools and local churches. Opportunities for practical experience under the mentorship of qualified instructors abound.
