Northland is passionate about the Cross-Cultural Studies program, which prepares students for global ministry. Through specific courses and a cross-cultural internship, students are equipped to fulfill the Great Commission. The Cross-Cultural Education emphasis further prepares the student, especially through the use of Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), for tentmaking service in countries not traditionally considered open. The missions emphasis focuses on developing the student’s preaching skills and church development strategies. This major is also ideal for those who would like to become linguists and Bible translators.
Requirements
All Cross-Cultural Studies majors will take 14 credits of a foreign language along with a core-curriculum of courses on religion, anthropology, and communication that amount to 16 credit hours. Each emphasis includes an internship that allows the student to put the principles learned in the classroom into action.
