Coach Paul Whitt
Coach Whitt came to Northland in August of 2005, after serving fifteen years in
local church youth ministry, including eleven as the youth pastor at Berean
Baptist Church (Lilburn, Georgia). This is his seventh season with the Lady
Pioneers and his sixth as head coach of the team, which competes in the Midwest Region of NCCAAII.
"I absolutely love the opportunity to coach these ladies, and
especially to coach at a place like Northland. The philosophy of discipleship
is what brought me here. I love that it’s a philosophy that impacts every part
of the institution, including the Athletic department. I coach for the
opportunity to disciple. Wins and losses are important, but not the most
important thing. Our players know our staff is more concerned with seeing them
grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ than any accomplishment
they can achieve on the floor. That’s why team devotionals, serving in local
churches, and going on missions’ trips are as much a part of team planning as
practices and games. At the same time, we desire to be good stewards of all
that God has provided, including physical talents, abilities, and resources, so
we are required to give it our all every practice and every game.”
Coach Whitt and his wife, Christie, have three children: Emily, 16;
Alexander, 15; and Jackson, 10. He also serves at Northland as the VP for
Athletics, and Director of Northland Camp & Conference Center.
