Coach Dave Herron

Dave HerronCoach Dave Herron graduated from Biola University with a teaching degree in Physical Education and Biology. He taught for 19 years in public/private/Christian Schools in California filling roles as classroom teacher/Athletic Director/Boys Counselor and has coached Soccer/baseball and basketball. In 1985 he focused his energies on coaching volleyball. He began coaching in the United States Volleyball association taking teams to the Junior Olympics in 1990, 1991, 1993 and 2008. His HS boys volleyball team at Whittier Christian High School took consecutive CIF championships in 1991, 1992 and 1993. Coach Herron holds a current Level II - USVBA Coaching Certification. In 1994 Coach Herron left the HS coaching ranks to join the staff at Northland International University where he has been the head Mens and Womens coach since that time, as well as a Physical Education department instructor.

Coach Herron was inducted into the USVBA ‘Victory Club’ with 300 wins (all at NIU for WVB) in 2009. His coaching experiences over the years have taken him through about 2000 matches. He coaches with his wife Barbara who has been his first assistant for 25 plus years. The Herron’s have 3 former players coaching at the college level and 15 former players coaching at the HS level; including their 3 grown children; Tyler (MI), Trent (IN) and Tiffany (NC). The Herron’s summer ministry involves conducting VB Camps that have taken them to 21 different states (several multiple times). They have also been to Hawaii / Guam and conducted VB Team Mission trips to Costa Rica and Brazil.

Their desire is to train young men and women to go into the coaching ranks and train other players to take their God given talent to Honor Him.
