BIB 111 Pentateuch (2 credits)

A survey of the first five books of the Old Testament that provides a firm foundation for further Bible study with a brief refutation of the arguments of higher criticism. Emphasizes the historical development.

BIB 112 Historical Books (2 credits)

A survey of the nation of Israel including the entry into Palestine, the conquest of the land, the period of the judges, and the development of the monarchy in Israel until the inter-testamental period.

BIB 121 The Gospels (2 credits)

This class is designed to survey the content of the Gospels and the introductory material which is related to these books. Through this survey, the student should acquire a working knowledge of the first four books of the New Testament.

CCS 101 Introduction to Cross-Cultural Ministry (2 credits)

A course on global ministry, surveying the theology, history, and practice of missions.

ENG 101 Fundamentals of Composition (3 credits)

A review of grammar, punctuation, mechanics, and spelling. Emphasizes the compositional process and paragraph development. Required of freshmen, a student must receive a “C-“ or higher to pass this course.

ENG 102 Research and Composition* (3 credits)

Instruction and practice in academic writing, emphasizing essay organization and research writing along with grammatical correctness and style. Required of freshmen, a student must receive a “C-“ or higher to pass this course.

HIS 101 World History I (3 credits)

This course will examine the major world events from the resurgence of civilization in the postdiluvian world through the Renaissance in Europe. Particular attention will be given to the development of the western world and its ideological constructs. This course uses a video-based format where the instructor presents his material verbally and through PowerPoint. The student will be expected to keep a weekly pace with lectures, reading, and quizzes.

HIS 102 World History II** (3 credits)

Brings the student into contact with modern human history through a study of various topics and themes selected from major civilizations. These themes include the Reformation, growth of Enlightenment philosophy, nationalism, industrialization, romanticism, and the struggle between totalitarian and democratic societies.
