We recently heard from
Caleb Kimbrough who served his study abroad internship in Australia. Click here to read his first update. However, during his last
few weeks with the missionaries, he had the opportunity to travel to the
Solomon Islands as a part of a special outreach to unbelievers and
encouragement to the believers on those islands. We wanted to share his report
with you—for your encouragement as well!
Well, it was a crazy last two weeks, and I cannot even begin
to describe all of the things that I was able to do out on the Solomon Islands.
God was very good to me and taught me many things through my trip. I am so
thankful that He allowed me to go on that trip! I was able to watch as a church
switched denominations in order to stay faithful to the Gospel of Jesus Christ
and the Word of God. I was able to spend a few days in a hut with a family, and
in those few days I was able to become a part of the family. They are all
people I will never forget. I was the first white man to ever come into their
house, and they kept telling me how thankful they were to have a person stay
with them who would have been used to so much more than what they could give
me. They were almost apologetic about it. They could not offer me many physical
things (although what they did have they freely offered to me), but they gave me
something far greater: the love of Jesus Christ. These were my brothers and
sisters in Christ, and they treated me as such, demonstrating the love and bond
that we have only through the blood of Christ Jesus. Those are two of the many
highlights from my journey to the Islands.
