Day of Prayer at Northland - Leaving Your First Love

Published On: Friday, November 06, 2009

Northland students are gathering on Thursday, November 5, for a Day of Prayer. A phrase of incredible magnitude that Jesus spoke to one of the churches in Revelation punctuates the theme for this Day of Prayer: “Nevertheless, I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love” (Revelation 2:4). This often happens anytime the “honeymoon” is over for the Christian . . . and this week’s love is less than last week’s love for Jesus Christ.

For the Ephesian church in Revelation, Jesus Christ offered His prescription for them to return to their first works. His desire was for their repentance and to correct their love drift from Him. Just as Christ moved among those seven churches—interacting with them, identifying their flaws, and calling them back to Him, so Northland has dedicated this day to asking God to visit with our students, faculty, and staff. The principal prayer for the day will be: “God help me to recapture the passion of my first love.”
