Northland Center for Global Opportunities has launched its
new Faith and Culture Series with Dr. Ken Ham as the first guest lecturer. The
founder and president of Answers in Genesis, Ken Ham, defended in seven
sessions the view that the Genesis account should be interpreted literally.
This, taken from their website, explains the purpose of the
organization: “Answers in Genesis is an apologetics (i.e.,
Christianity-defending) ministry, dedicated to enabling Christians to defend
their faith and to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ effectively.
We focus
particularly on providing answers to questions surrounding the book of Genesis,
as it is the most-attacked book of the Bible."
Dr. Ham has found that much of the evangelical world
acquiesces to modern culture by inserting billions of years into the creation
account. This simple fact, he argues, is evidence of a greater battle being
waged over the authority of the Word of God, the Bible. Ken is particularly
concerned with why so many churched young people leave their faith after
graduating from high school. He contends that church leaders have created a
vacuum by teaching children that they don’t need to believe Genesis 1. If they
don’t believe that, then the question is eventually posed, “Why should I
believe the rest of it?” For Ken Ham’s answer to that question, please visit

As a ministry-training school, Northland desires to expose its students
to those who are making an impact in our culture, enriching their education and
providing tools for their future ministries. Not only that, Northland desires
to conduct such lectures as a service to the community. Ken Ham is an
internationally-known speaker in high demand, and we are pleased to bring him
to this region. Nearly two thousand staff, faculty, students, and guests
attended his presentations over the course of two days.
