It’s Spirit Week at Northland International University. Roman togas
were seen all day Monday—somewhat incongruous in the year’s first
snowfall but a welcome break in the monotony of classes. According to
student body president, Peter Cushman, "spirit week is designed to
bring refreshment to the student body through unity and participation;
students participate by dressing according to each day’s theme. These
themes are assigned to each day by the student body officers. Spirit
week provides the students with a break from the normal routine of
life, which gives them new energy in the middle of the semester."
The costumes and fun will center on these themes for each day:
Monday—Classic Rome:
Take a step back into antiquity and come outfitted in a toga. Feel free
to add Roman sandals, wreaths, armor, or anything Romanesque to your
costume.
Tuesday—Classic Films:
We know you love the classic movies, so come dressed as your favorite
character from one of the all-time classic films posted around campus.
Wednesday—Childhood Classics:
Give in to your inner child and wear things like baggy shirts, jeans
tucked into your shoes, light-up sneakers, pants pulled up way too
high, comb-overs, scrunchies, pigtails, and anything else that was "all
that and a bag of chips" when we were kids.
Thursday—Classic Northland: To
show your school spirit, dress up in school colors and retro Northland
apparel OR new this year, show your love for Northland by dressing up
as your favorite professor!
