We are continually
blessed to learn how students and alumni of Northland International University
find creative places, suited to their particular interests, where the Lord can
use them to impact lives for His glory.
Adam Cabrera, an alumnus of Northland, is applying his
“life-touching-life” training and passion for youth at a Boys & Girls Club,
which provides constructive, after-school activities for children. The following
excerpts appear in the Chetek Alert online
article, dated March 17, 2010:
The new executive
director of the organization [Boys & Girls Club], Cabrera, 28, is a
Chicago, Illinois, native whose mother worked to improve the development of
troubled inner-city youths. "She believed in changing lives and providing
a place for youth to develop into great citizens," he says.
Inspired by her
passion, Cabrera made it his life's mission. He attended Northland
International University, a private Bible college in Dunbar, and earned
bachelor's and master's degrees in youth development and theological studies.
When Cabrera learned
Boys & Girls Club of Barron County needed a director, he jumped at the
opportunity. "I wanted to get involved with a youth organization
here," he says. "It seemed like a good fit."
"I believe in
youth. I believe in changed lives. Many great movements in our American history
have started with youth. The future of our society, of Barron County, is in the
hands of our youth today."
