Northland
International University’s volleyball coach, David Herron, was nominated for
“Coach of the Year” and is one of the finalists with the National Collegiate
Volleyball Federation. The recipient will be announced this Wednesday at
the national tournament.
David
Herron came to Northland in 1994 as the varsity women’s volleyball coach, men’s
volleyball coach, and teacher of sports-related classes. The following description
of Coach Herron resonates with all of his players, past and present, and was included
in his nomination:
Dave
has patiently dedicated time and effort into producing teams that may never win
the championship but will always play hard. . . . His teams have always had
good attitudes and sportsmanship. . . . Dave exemplifies what a dedicated
coach should be. Instead of being discouraged with the lack of experience and
size, he inspires his players to work hard and be the best players that they
can be without excuses.
The administration, faculty, and students of
Northland appreciate, respect, and honor Coach Herron’s passionate ministry of
coaching—impacting lives both on and off the court.
