The 2009–10 men’s volleyball team has reunited after the Christmas break
with the majority of the team's season yet to be played during this spring
semester.
Coach Herron summarizes his hopes for this season, “We are fortunate to play
in a quality conference such as the Wisconsin Volleyball Conference. We have
tried to put forth a competitive effort every season, but the reality of our
program dictates that we don’t often get a skilled, strategically competent
group. This season holds great promise; if we can stay humble, work hard,
and are more concerned for our teammates than self, we may do well.”
The team is aiming at a strong conference effort and a bid to the National
Tournament on April 1–3, 2010 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Paul Johns (MH), Andrew Schilling (OH), and Aaron Debuticao (S) are the only
returning starters from the 2008–09 endeavor. Justin Delizo (OH), Brendon Wung
(L), and Grant Chai (DS-OH) return with some good experience to contribute.
Untested players returning with one year of experience are Aaron Wright
(OH), John Derenfield (DS), Ricky Hill (RSH/MH), and Travis Jacobs (S). Micah
Herron (OH), Bryce Pegram (RSH), and Issac Cummins (MH) are returners
from two seasons ago who return to the program with expectations from
Coach Herron. Steven Yates (MH/RSH) is a newcomer who has untested talent.
Andrew Summers, Jon Bendo, and Jordan Anderson are new to the sport and
program. Mikey Chai is a graduate assistant that will be contributing good help
with the coaching duties.
