Northland Camp and Conference Center is enjoying a great summer and has passed the midpoint of the 2010 camping season. Three teen and junior weeks, including a two-week leadership camp, and two family camp weeks have taken place with two teen and junior weeks, including specialty weeks, and one family camp week still remaining.
The first three weeks of teen and junior camps have averaged over 500 campers a week and proven to be full of excitement and life-changing decisions. Off-Road Adventure teams, Accelerate Motorsports and Full Throttle Racing, have competed each week in a number of new and exciting games, including the AquaZorb and the Traxxas Remote Control car course. Featured evangelists and missionaries have challenged the teens and young people in many areas (week one: Jerry Sivnksty, Ed Dunlap, Phil Hunt; week two: Will Galkin, Joel Albright, Tim Chapman; and week three: Tom Farrell and Will Galkin). Many teens have trusted Christ as Savior, committed to serve in ministry, as well as made other decisions to seek God’s will for their lives.
The camp staff has also been able to serve almost 150 families so far this summer in family camps. The parents have been challenged by the featured speakers each week, Mark Minnick or Tim Jordan. During morning chapels, Camp Director Steve Pettit focused on 1 John 4, the theme text for the summer: Life in the Gospel. The children enjoyed a fantastic time in their groups entitled Off-Road Army Adventure, led by year-round, camp staff member Joel Albright. The teens also engaged in their week-long competition of “Redneck Games.” Under the leadership of Aaron Coffey, summer staff counselor and teen group supervisor, the teens have had a great time of games and preaching, seeing God answer many prayers in their lives.
