1. How do I get my ID card? 
You can receive your Northland ID card at the Technology Helpdesk during our office hours Monday-Friday, 8-5p.m.
2. What do I need to get it?
You will need to have one form of government ID on you; this could be a driver’s license, social security card, or passport. For dependents without a driver’s license, they can bring their social security card or have their parents verify their legal birth name by emailing helpdesk@ni.edu or calling ext. 5200.
3. Does it cost anything?
Your first card is absolutely free! But if you lose your card then there is a $3 replacement fee. If for some reason your card stops working under normal usage and care then you can bring it down to Technology and we can replace it free of charge.
4. Why do I need one?
ID cards are needed to use Library Services ,Campus Check-out and Entrance to the Dining Hall.
5. Who can get an ID card?
All faculty, staff, and students will need an ID card. Spouses or dependents age 12 and above can also receive one and will need one if they would like to access library resources.
6. How do I use it?
a. Procedure at Security Booth
When you want to get off campus, you will need to stop at the Security Booth to check out. You will hand in your ID card to the attendant in the booth, they will swipe your card and give it back to you. You will need to repeat this procedure when you come back onto campus.

b. Procedure at Dining Hall
To get into the dining hall for a meal you will need to slide your card through the machine on the podium. When you slide your card, your picture should be facing away from you with the mag strip on the bottom. You should hear a single beep if it has gone through properly.
c. Procedure in Library
Present your card to a library staff member at the front counter.
7. What happens if I lose my card?
If your card is lost, you must personally contact Technology by emailing helpdesk@ni.edu or calling ext. 5200, so that it can be deactivated. Then you will need to come down to Technology to have a replacement card made. The replacement card costs $3. If you find the old one it will not work and cannot be reactivated.
