SPRING MINISTRY TEAM ‘11

Just wanted to give you and encouraging report!  The Northland team was in our Academy on Tuesday.  They did a tremendous job, not just on what was expected but, they went the extra mile to really connect with our students.  They facilitated gym classes 1-10th grade throughout the afternoon.  Our Jr/Sr high students had a fun game of basketball with them.  Our girls had a home game that night and the team stayed and cheered them on.  The team then left for ministry in Wisconson for Wed.  Before they left they asked if they could return on Thursday and attend our boys home game.  We said sure but, figured it was unlikely thy would actually be able to make the trip back. We didn't tell the kids they were coming back just in case they were not able to.  On Thursday evening, the Northland team entered the gym and our kids were beyond encouraged.  The energy at the games was doubled.  We watched the NIU team make connections with our team members and the other students in the crowd.  We are such a small school and it would have been very easy for the NIU team to come and go and not think much about a handful of students.  Their care and ability to connect with these students will have far reaching impact in the lives of these young people.  Our current students have very little home support and so to have Godly young men invest themselves and be such a strong example will have long lasting impact in the lives of these young people.

In our Friday staff meeting, the teachers gave praise to the Lord for the team and expressed how it was very different from other teams in the past.  Many times it is a burden to host a team but, much praise was given for the fact that it was evident that they were here to serve and minister not just advertise the school.

I am praising the Lord as He is doing mighty things in our little school.  My mission field has been expanded and my heart has been knit to these young people.  I have lots to share and look forward to fellowship next week.  Let Dr. Matt know that he can be thankful for young men that are representing Northland in a way that brings great honor and glory to our precious Lord and Savior.

Love in Christ,
Deborah

FALL MINISTRY TEAM ‘09

L’Chaim (“To Life”)—Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility—Pastor Tim Wilbur
Your Ministry Team from Northland International University was very well received at Pendleton Juvenile. Our students were appreciative of the "prizes" and most attentive to the program and Gospel message. A local church provided pizza, sodas, and fresh cookies for all of your students and our juveniles. If your team is ever in our area again, please contact me, and we will schedule them to come in and minister to our students. Please express our gratitude to your supervisor and to Northland's administration.

SPRING MINISTRY TEAM ‘09

Christian Liberty Academy—Ke’eau, Hawaii—Dr. Andrew Repp, Math Department headI was so thankful those guys were here! It is so incredibly valuable for our kids to see young men who are a) sold out to God, b) from a conservative college, and c) down to earth—real, fun people. Please extend my thanks to them since I didn't get to be as specific in thanking them as I wished because they were hanging with the students the last time I saw them—which is, of course, very good.

Christian Heritage Academy—Oklahoma City, Oklahoma—Josh Bullard, headmaster We had a very good time with the ministry team. They connected well with our students. They did a good job in chapel—genuine, but not so polished that it came across as a performance. I believe the greatest thing that was shared was a genuine love for and desire for the Lord. Our students need to see young people who really value their relationship with Christ above all that the culture has to offer. Thank you for letting us have the opportunity to have the young men with us at CHA.

Tri-City Christian School—Independence, Missouri—Damian Ahrens, administratorThanks so much for your very effective ministry today in chapel. I truly appreciate your heart for the kids and joining me for lunch. You were all a great encouragement to all of us. Micah, I also appreciated you speaking to my daughters, Anna and Abigail, concerning missions. God’s speed on your journeys.

Grace Baptist Church—Panama City, Florida—Mike Jones, assistant pastor
The ministry team concept was rather new to us. We’ve been used to the music and drama ensemble teams from the various colleges over the years, so this gave us a pause. However, we were not disappointed. We fit the team into our Wednesday night programs of Youth and Adult Bible Study, and they slid seamlessly into our plans. We designed our youth program to maximize interaction between the team and teens, and it worked wonderfully. Our teens were drawn to each of the Northland students and continued to talk with them even after dismissal time. The team leader did a great job both with the teens and adults. Overall, this was a nice change to the formalized approach of music and drama programs, and I would use the ministry team concept again. Thank you for sending a team south. We’ve never had a Northland team at Grace to my knowledge, and I want our people to be exposed to your spirit.

I wanted to share my thanks to you in extending the invitation to have the Northland ministry team here. We certainly profited from their ministry. They represented Christ and Northland well—you would be proud of them! My wife and I had the opportunity to have three of the team in our home, and they were a delight.

Ogemaw Hills Christian School—LeAnne Gormong, administrator
On behalf of the students and staff of Ogemaw Hills Christian School, I would like to express my appreciation to the ministry team from NBBC. They took charge of both of our chapels yesterday and represented your institution in an excellent manner. Even more importantly, they brought honor and glory to God. “They spent time with our students one-on-one and in classroom settings. They remembered the names of all those they met. They were eager to help and took the initiative to do so. Musically, their presentation was excellent. Their host families raved about the team members.

Grace Baptist Church—Wynne Kimbrough, pastor
We want to thank you for allowing the ministry team to come to Grace in their tour. They were a blessing in both of our services. I really appreciated the heart and spirit of the team members. They represented Northland and the Lord in a Christ-honoring way. We were thrilled to have them.

Bluelick Bible Church—Jim Neighbors, pastor
This is just a note to say thank you for the ministry team that came our way last week. They had an excellent spirit about them and provided a good program. Thank you for your service to the Lord.

Hampton Park Baptist Church—Jeremy McMorris, assistant pastor
Thank you so much for the ministry of your team. They ministered very capably in our Christian school chapel. Each of the team members represented Christ and Northland well. They went out of their way to minister to our teens during lunch and were very effective in their interaction I had the privilege of spending over an hour with the team “grilling” them about life at Northland. I was thrilled with the answers I received. Thank you for stressing the “life-touching-life” ministry in the way you do. It’s making an impact in your students, and they’re excited about sharing this message with others.
