The Great Commission Initiative

More than ever, the world is in dire need.

War, injustice, greed, and fear define the twenty-first century. As you tune in to the news or read the latest headlines, is your desire to actively engage the culture in order to bring about change? While the world crafts solutions by strengthening governance, increasing humanitarian aid, intensifying environmental protection, and building stronger communities, are you burdened for man’s greatest need? While the world is treating the symptoms, the root of the problem remains untreated. What the world desperately needs is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We all desire to play a role in
meeting the world's greatest needs.

Two questions logically emerge:

1) What are the world's largest needs?
2) How can we best meet those needs?

The need demands a bold plan.

Northland International University desires to attack the problem at its source: man’s depraved heart. Jesus’ original instruction about evangelism directs each believer to participate in straight-forward, love-propelled, life-touching-life evangelism and discipleship. As Christians, our mission is simple: living in a manner that demonstrates Christ’s love in a way that reaches people globally with the Gospel, trains disciples, and plants churches. This mission is driven by Jesus’s instruction to go: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19a).

Why this plan needs you.

God desires more servant-leaders to invest their lives, and we’re dedicated to help those called for this purpose take the next step to prepare, realizing the extraordinary mission God has for them. The church must alleviate, as much as possible, the financial stress caused by living a life dedicated to spreading the Good News of Christ. College seniors who graduated in 2009 had an average of $24,000 in student loan debt, according to an annual report from The Project on Student Debt. Our graduates serving in full-time Christian ministry will have difficulty sustaining this level of debt.

If your heart resonates with this message and you share our passion, will you consider helping us to prepare students for a lifetime of commitment to the Great Commission? You can be instrumental by partnering with our students through both prayer and financial giving.

Now is our time to decisively act in faith.

We are asking a remnant of this next generation to invest their lives in a work that the world will never value and, hence, never reward. Therefore, we must intervene.
