The Doctor of Ministry is a professional ministry degree designed to equip the student in a biblical theology of ministry and ministry leadership for the purpose of developing a stronger, healthier church. In order to achieve the purpose of the Doctor of Ministry, the student will be required to demonstrate competencies in six key Word and church ministry areas:
- Biblical Theology/Interpretation
- Leadership
- Exposition
- Contemporary Theology
- Biblical Counseling/Discipleship
- Missions/Evangelism
In addition, students will be required to complete an Introduction to Doctoral Study Seminar, which will prepare them for the research and writing requirements of a professional doctorate. The program includes no more than ten four-credit seminars and an eight-credit ministry project. The DMin Seminars will include a blend of instruction, research, and student presentations. A minimum of four seminars will be offered in an academic year in either a resident or online format. The DMin program will require the student to be resident for five out of the ten seminars. The final capstone requirement of the DMin degree will be a ministry project that explores or develops one of the six Word and church ministry competencies.
The instructional delivery methods for the Doctor of Ministry program will include lecture, interactive research, student presentations, resident classes on the campus of Northland International University, online course delivery, and occasional classes near key ministries or libraries.
