The Pioneer men’s volleyball team
traveled to the UW-Oshkosh campus on Tuesday, February 22, for a nonconference,
midweek match. The Titans had just defeated the Pioneers in the second round
play date a few days earlier to capture their tenth consecutive WVC
regular season championship.
Justin Delizo commented, “We knew they would
be ready to play. They are a good program that maintains pride in their
performance. A national tournament bid was on the line for them.” The Titans
claimed a 25–17, 25–17, and 25–20 sweep over the Pioneers on Tuesday evening. NI
played well with good performances by Micah Herron (11 kills/8 digs), Andrew
Schilling (29 assists/7 digs), and Isaac Cummins (7 kills/ 3 blocks).
“Good talent will always expose bad
technique/tactics. We need to improve and I will find a way to help this team
do so,” Coach Herron commented after the match. The Pioneer men travel to
Michigan Tech on Thursday and then host tri-matches on Friday, February 25 (5 p.m. vs.
Moody and 8:30 p.m. vs. UW-Stout), and Saturday, February 26 (11 a.m. vs. Moody and 2:30 p.m. vs. UWGB).
