The Pioneers concluded their regular season Saturday
afternoon with a solid victory over the Eagles of Faith Baptist Bible College,
73–65. Faith came into the game on an eleven-game winning streak.
For the second day in a row, Northland came out of the gate
in attack mode.It wasn’t long before
the Pioneers found themselves comfortably in the driver’s seat.Despite playing an unexpected “Midnight
Madness” game the previous night, Northland looked as if they had all the energy
in the world.
Seth Quirey (Elkhart,
IN) continued his hot scoring
trend as he tallied up 20 more points.Quirey, who surpassed the 1,000 point career mark earlier this season,
has already scored 523 points this season.Two other Pioneers surged into the stat book with outstanding
numbers.Josh Conover (Reading, PA)
was able to drop in with 14 points and 8 rebounds.Meanwhile, in his last home game, Jusin
Sheley (Rockford, IL) scored 13 points on 6-for-10 shooting
from the field.
The Pioneers finished the regular season with two wins over
quality opponents and will now be faced with their most important weekend of
basketball yet.The stakes have been
raised as the post-season approaches with a “win or go home” mind set.Northland will travel to Chicago, Illinois,
this Thursday for their first-round matchup in the Midwest Regional Tournament
against host school, Moody Bible Institute.Tip-off will be at 8 p.m. CST on Thursday.
