Northland exists for the purpose of glorifying God by preparing servant-leaders for Great Commission living. Through rigorous academics and numerous opportunities for growth through extracurricular involvement, Northland equips students with a knowledge base which will ready them to function as humble, empathetic, others-focused leaders throughout their lives.
While Northland students enter school excited to train for an extraordinary life dedicated to the glory of God, many are unclear on the exact path they expect to follow in pursuing their life objectives. The road from freshman year to the actualization of long-term goals is cluttered with innumerable opportunities and possibilities, and can seem overwhelming. NXT Steps exists to empower students to skillfully navigate college decisions, graduate, transition into meaningful work, and then continue making wise, God-honoring directional choices throughout their lives.
NXT Steps is a life-work preparation program which interacts on a personal basis with students throughout their college years, helping them develop their fullest potential to the glory of God. As freshmen and sophomores begin their training, NXT Steps guides them through a process of solidifying their understanding of their own unique personality traits, skills, gifts, and abilities. As students move into their junior and senior years, the program assists them in identifying and taking tangible, practical steps toward future accomplishment of their goals.
Throughout the school year, NXT Steps hosts on-campus workshops addressing relevant topics such as discerning God’s will for one’s life and how to build and write a resume. Additionally, students are encouraged to meet with NXT Steps leadership for one-on-one counsel concerning specific directional questions. Through NXT Steps, Northland endeavors to see students cultivate their distinctive abilities and graduate better prepared to thrive as they confidently pursue God’s plans for them.
